The Power of Gemstones

Stone power is one of the most effective ways you can bring all manner of healing, relaxation and other helpful, positive vibrations to your life.

There are many stones and crystals out there, and if you listen to your intuition carefully, you’ll sense the specific stones you need calling to you, for use in physical healing  (laying stones on the body to heal the chakras), for promoting specific energies with crystal grids placed on an altar or other side table, or simply to carry around in your purse or pocket, or worn as jewellery, for homing in on a specific result, such as peace and calm, self-confidence, heightened intuition, prosperity, grounding, or even promoting sexual attraction.

Here are some common gemstones you might recognise, and are on offer at zenspiritual.com:

1) Amethyst. This is probably one of the most recognisable and favoured gemstones out there. Used as a stone of intuition, amethyst is actually a variety of quartz. Though often found as tumbled stones or as cabochon-style rings and pendants, amethyst naturally grows in clusters like clear crystal quartz. Some amethyst clusters can even be found in geodes, which are often crystal-bearing rocks found near rivers. Though they look like plain, ordinary rocks on the outside, when you crack geodes open, your eyes will be delighted by the natural, sparkling beauty within. It’s always a surprise as to which type of gemstone will be found inside, but amethyst is a common—and oft-sought-after find.

2) Rose Quartz. Another member of the quartz family, this gently sparkling beauty is commonly used with healing the heart chakra, as it symbolises unconditional love, be it parental love (therefore sometimes associated with Mother Mary, especially if paired with any type of natural pearl beads), deep friendship, or even the tender beginnings of romantic love, which, if your partner proves true and loyal, will have unconditional love as its basis. Just holding a strand of these beads in your hands will have a beautiful effect on your emotions and energy, calming you.

3) Green Aventurine (aka ‘Green Quartz’). Another stone associated with the heart chakra, green aventurine also promotes mental clarity, calm, creativity and a positive outlook on life. This is a perfect stone for helping with emotional well-being, overall.

4) Citrine. It’s difficult not to love citrine. This, too, is a member of the quartz family, and it often appears paired with amethyst or carnelian in jewellery that’s not only made with fashion in mind, but also good vibrations and powerful, positive manifestations. Citrine is commonly associated with the solar plexus, and therefore assists with self-confidence, self-esteem as well as most types of abundance. This makes sense, because how can you feel prosperous and bad about yourself at the same time? You can’t. It’s very helpful to feel happy about who you are and grateful for what you already have so the universe can send more of it your way. And it is also very difficult to feel down in general when seeing the cheeriness of this stone. Just be aware that while true citrine is part of the quartz family, it is often a pale orange, not a dark one. Dark ‘citrine’ is simply clear quartz that’s been heat-treated.

5) Carnelian. If second-chakra issues need healing, carnelian is the stone for you. The second chakra rules self-worth and creativity as well as sensuality and sexuality. Carnelians range in colour from a rusty red to a dark or pale reddish-orange, and sometimes they’re a mix if in bead form. Pair with citrine to make a powerful necklace or bracelet to inspire confidence in your creativity as well as sexual self-confidence.

There are so many helpful healing stones out there. These are just five of some of the most common ones used, collected and loved by avid ‘rockhounds’ and healers of all types.
